How to Improve Your Credit Rating on Your Own

If your credit is less than perfect, don't lose hope. Improving your credit rating on your own is not an impossible task. Here are a few things you can do to boost your rating…

Know What’s on Your Credit Report

Knowing what collections and accounts you have on your credit report is the first step to improving it. Oftentimes a credit bureau can have wrong information about an account or may even list accounts or collections that don't belong to you.
Clearing up these blemishes and errors will boost your rating.

Make Payments on Time

Stay clear of letting bills and loan payments go past due. Late payments and collections bring down a credit score. Get organized and make your payments on time. Using money organizing software or an online bill service is a good way to ensure timely payments.

Watch your Credit Limits

Keeping high balances on your credit cards increase your debt ratios and move credit ratings in a negative direction. Try giving yourself a spending limit for your credit cards of no more than half the limit each month and use cash for the rest of your purchases.

Healing your credit takes time and effort but in the long run is definitely worth the investment.
